Uganda: Game Park tourists increased by 17.5% in 2013

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), which manages 10 national parks and 12 wildlife reserves located in different parts of Uganda, has released the visitor numbers for 2013. According to the statistics, the visitor numbers increased from 182,149 in 2012 to 213,949 in 2013 which amounts to 17.5%. Foreigners contributed 43% of the visitors and the rest included Ugandans and East Africans.



Uganda's most visited park was Murchinson Falls National Park, followed by Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kidepo National Park in the north eastern part of the Uganda. Lake Mburo National Park in Mbarara was the least visited park.

  6. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park: 8,951 visitors
  7. Semuliki National Park: 5,725 visitors
  8. Kidepo National Park: 2,890 visitors
  9. Rwenzori Mountains National Park: 2,724 visitors
  10. Mount Elgon National Park: 2,096 visitors
